Operational Services

HZL specialise in providing a dedicated and professional service to all clients to ensure public safety and customer satisfaction.

All organised events, whether they are sporting, concerts, festivals or corporate events, regardless of size require some level of a security and stewarding operation.

Our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of the client and our Event Managers can provide guidance and assistance in the planning phase as well as providing security surveys, risk assessments and emergency response plans.

Our Event Managers have many years experience of security operations at many high profile events liaising with Local Authorities and Police Services.

Event Stewards
The role of the Steward is primarily one of health and safety, crowd management and to monitor public safety. Stewards are an integral part of any event security operation and all our stewarding staff have achieved the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events, a qualification focusing on crowd management and safety.

Event Security
Our SIA licensed Security Operatives have all carried out industry regulated training and we supply Security Guards, Door Supervisors, CCTV Operators and Close Protection Officers who undertake many roles including the control of access / egress, search, bar security and the protection of VIP clients and artistes. Many of our senior event staff have achieved further qualifications in First Aid and Health & Safety to further enhance our service. We also specialise in deploying specially trained response and anti-merchandise teams and pride ourselves on an excellent level of service delivery.

Event First Aid & Medical Cover
Includes First Aiders, First Responders Emergency Care Assistants, Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.  We have a number of resources available to us which allows us to provide a high quality service.

The term paramedic is now protected and a restricted title.  All Paramedics have to be state registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Paramedics are highly trained and adhere to the clinical protocols of JRCALC guidelines.

Paramedics provide specialist care and treatment to patients who are either acutely ill or injured. They can administer a range of drugs and carry out certain surgical techniques.

From the beginning of planning your event, we will be available to carry out an On-site Medical Risk Assessment in line with The Event Safety Guide (2007), which determines the level of recommended medical cover.  We can provide a free event assessment and quotation.

We will provide a comprehensive service including, if required, liaison with the Public Liability Insurance provider to insure that all minimum requirements are met to validate the insurance.

  • Liaison with the local county Ambulance service to arrange exchange points and access/egress points if necessary.
  • A review of the site to ensure the best cover.
  • Identification of contingency treatment areas in the case of emergency
  • A post event report detailing numbers of casualties and a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of the cover provided

All personnel will be fully certified and insured and are certified to the required level and will have undertaken a clinical assessment prior to employment.

All staff are certified at their accredited skill level from HSE First Aid and Advanced First Aid to IHCD Emergency Medical Technician and IHCD, HPC State Registered Paramedic. Valid CRB certificates are held by all of our Emergency Medical Technicians and State Registered Paramedics.  Proof of qualifications can be provided upon request for all our members of staff.

Static Security
Manned guarding covers a wide and varied range of duties but essentially requires a trained and qualified SIA licensed security officer to take responsibility for a client's site. All our guards are SIA licensed and screened in accordance with BS7985 and BS7499, the industry's codes of practice.

The role of the Security Officer is varied and diverse. HZL supply officers both in traditional security roles or can train and induct our staff to carry out a wide range of duties to best suit our clients' needs.

The safety of persons, objects and property is the main objective of the Security Officer, however it is now recognised that the security officer has a role of customer service. Security Officers are normally the first person seen at a site and therefore the first impression of our clients' operations. We endeavour to provide officers that can offer a full range of services as well as that of security officers.

Door Supervisors
Since the introduction of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) the role of the Door Supervisor has become much more diverse, particularly focusing on customer service.

At HZL we recognise the importance of the Door Supervisor within the leisure industry and aim our company training at meeting a client's entire requirement. Our fully trained and SIA licensed staff are vetted to BS7858 and training is conducted to BS7960 standards.

All our staff have a professional and proactive approach to fulfilling their role, as well as excellent presentation and communication skills. We can also supply specialist staff trained in first aid and crowd management as well as covert security teams. Whether it is a bar, nightclub or hotel venue our high standards of service and uniformed staff are guaranteed. Our Operations Managers work closely with clients to conduct accurate security surveys and compile concise assignment instructions and risk assessments and communicate regularly to monitor the service.

Close Protection
HZL has a dedicated Close Protection Section all trained to the highest levels and who come from British Military, Police and Entertainment Protection backgrounds. Our Close Protection Officers (CPOs) have extensive operational experience in hostile environments and the corporate and celebrity sectors worldwide and are trained at our own company training centre.

As part of the service our Close Protection Management Team carry out thorough security surveys and risk analysis to ensure that the service is bespoke to the individual's requirements.

The company has been providing Close Protection Officers to clients from the entertainment, sports and music industries and media for many years.

However, in the current world security climate it is not uncommon for our CPOs to be utilised by clients from corporate or business backgrounds who require a discreet and professional executive protection service with the minimal amount of disturbance to their normal life or routine.

All our CPOs are fully SIA licensed and trained and through continual client liaison provide the highest standard of personal protection.
